A.P. Throws Bogus Headline on Palin to see if it Sticks (update)

- By Thomas Lamb

Palin book tour host to foreign press: stay away

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — She's no longer the chief executive of Alaska, but Sarah Palin should still be called "governor." And in English only, please.

That was the message sent out by officials at the Mall of America this week, who told reporters planning to cover the Minneapolis-area stop on Palin's "Going Rogue" book tour they must address the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate by her former title. The guidelines also banned foreign reporters, allowing "only English speaking press."

Mall officials said the guidelines were a mistake, and apologized Wednesday to Palin for the mix up, which they called "an internal miscommunication" that was "inadvertently distributed."

"That should never have been in any kind of press release," said Tina Andreadis, a publicist for publisher HarperCollins in New York, who added foreign reporters would be welcome at Palin's Mall of America stop.

"That's not the message the governor wants to send out," she said.
Drum roll please.....................................................................

A.P throws their spit-ball in the story...
The guidelines were likely to be mostly irrelevant either way. Palin hasn't been speaking to most reporters — either local or from abroad — during her tightly controlled, stay-on-message book tour.
So why and who would put out such a press release when Palin while on the tour hasn't been speaking to reporters.....

Who in the hell is putting this type of information out? That's not Palin's style to do that.

A.P. continues to throw spit-balls and miss.

Update:

The Star-Tribune has a story on this A.P. story.
MOA apologizes to Palin

Jasper said the internal notes were sent to one AP reporter who had contacted the mall about the guidelines for Palin's visit from noon to 4 p.m. Monday for her memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life."

Using "Governor" in reference to Palin was a note to mall staffers "as a sign of respect," Jasper said.

[...]

Jasper didn't have a copy Wednesday night of what was sent out and didn't say what else was included.
Maybe the A.P. has a copy of the "internal notes"? That would make sense wouldn't it?

Mall staff were instructed by the MOA to call Palin "Governor" -- A very different situation than what was reported by the AP:
Mo.

(Emphasis mine)

Big difference between telling reporters what to say, then instructing how your own staff should address Palin...

The A.P. continues on their anti-Palin roll.

AP:can't be bothered to investigate the hate bloggers

The chairman of Salem Republican Committee in Virginia dropped a note on the Roanoke Valley GOP's blog Monday night. The Chair had just received a call from an AP reporter in Alaska who inquired about the Sarah Palin event he heard was taking place in Salem, VA next week:
"Hated to break it to him but I had to tell him he's about a year late...unless..."
Where has this intrepid member of the Fourth Estate been for the past nine months while Gryphen and his cronies have been attacking Sarah Palin and her family using lies and innuendo? The AP can't be bothered to practice a little investigative journalism into the anti-Palin hate bloggers, their agenda and their backgrounds for all that time.

Once again, conservative bloggers are doing the work the Obamunist press refuses to do. Are we burying the lede? You betcha!

Meanwhile, Jesse Griffin wants a different standard to be applied to himself than the one he applied to the Palins, as we learn from this e-mail he sent to Dan Riehl:
"And hey for future reference if you think an allegation or rumor is incorrect then just wait it out and make fun of the person after it proves to be false. That keeps your integrity intact and makes you seem like the better man."
Being an atheist must mean that you don't have to practice what you preach.

Update: Another Black Conservative says the game has changed.

AP could be acronym for 'Anti-Palin' or 'Attack Palin'

As we pointed out yesterday, the AP has made a mockery of its own claims:
"The Associated Press employs some of the best and most experienced journalists in the world. Each is dedicated to the same standards — fairness, balance and accuracy."
Like the content which comes off the AP wire, that high-minded statement is a lie. We're not the only ones to call them on it.

Dan Calabrese, in an op-ed for the North Star Writers Group, gets right to the point:
"Let’s just establish this right off the bat: The Associated Press lies. Not in every news story, necessarily, but when it wants to slant a story to serve its ideological bias, the AP has no compunction about flat-out lying."
Among his examples of AP prevarication, Calabrese cites the wire service's latest hit piece on Sarah Palin:
An AP headline screams: "AP NewsBreak: Palin implicated in ethics probe".

Oh my God! That sounds serious! And if you’re the AP, it’s a long-awaited reason for hope after the previous 19 ethics complaints against Palin were all summarily dismissed as frivolous and completely without merit.

[...]

Too bad it’s all complete nonsense. Too bad the actual "independent investigator" didn’t blame Palin at all for her situation, and instead blamed the State of Alaska for having such a ridiculous ethics process that a governor can face more than $500,000 in legal fees for bogus complaints, and isn’t supposed to raise money to help her pay the bills.

[...]

But you wouldn’t know it from reading the AP. They want so desperately for Palin to be guilty of something, they can’t stop themselves from running scandal-mongering headlines, even when there is no scandal.
R. A. Mansour says the AP smear job on Plain is just another example of media malpractice;
Rachel D’Oro erroneously reported that Gov. Palin was found in violation of the Ethics Act. That is completely false. The leaked document was a preliminary report -- the first part of a long process.

[...]

Only the Personnel Board can make the final determination about whether the Ethics Act was violated. There was no violation because the governor has not taking any money from the legal defense fund. No funds have been dispersed because they were waiting for the resolution of this issue. Therefore, Gov. Palin can not be charged with something she hasn’t even done yet.
Oh, yes she can, but only in the drive-by media. Sarah Palin was charged by the Associated Press, and it was just another in a long series of AP lies.

The AP's prevarications about Sarah Palin are nothing new, of course. In January, Steve Maloney showed that AP not only lies about Palin, but also manages to get the most obvious examples of it scrubbed from the Google search engine.

Also in January, Patterico called AP out for equating "the vicious attacks on Palin’s children to media photographers taking pictures of Sasha and Malia Obama when they entered their new school two weeks ago."

Eric Dondero caught AP red handed lying about the size of the crowd at an October Palin campaign event in Carson, California.

Early in October, WSJ's James Taranto exposed an AP smear job which called Palin a racist simply for questioning Obama's relationship with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.

With its long history of lying about Sarah Palin, we have to wonder if AP is not an acronym for "Associated Press" but "Anti-Palin" seems more descriptive -- or "Attack Palin" -- because that is what it does.

No surprise: Anti-Palin AP snubs Gov. Palin

In a story headlined "Alaskans concerned about North Korea's missiles" the Associated Press continues in its Anti-Palin tradition. Mary Pemberton, who wrote the story, quoted several of Alaska's citizens as well as "the state's political leaders."

Among the latter, Pemberton included statements from Rep. Don Young and Sen. Mark Begich. Conspicuously absent from the article was any mention of Gov. Sarah Palin, who has been the most vocal of Alaskans about the potential threat her state faces from North Korea.

The governor issued a statement on April 6 in response to a North Korean missle test:

"I am deeply concerned with North Korea’s development and testing program which has clear potential of impacting Alaska, a sovereign state of the United States, with a potentially nuclear armed warhead," Governor Palin said. "I can’t emphasize enough how important it is that we continue to develop and perfect the global missile defense network. Alaska’s strategic location and the system in place here have proven invaluable in defending the nation."
Palin followed her statement with a strongly-worded letter (PDF) to Defense Secretary William Gates:
"I am deeply concerned with North Korea's development and testing program. It has the clear potential of impacting Alaska, Hawaii, and possibly the West Coast with a nuclear armed warhead. I can't emphasize enough how important it is that we continue to develop and perfect our global missile defense shield."

"Alaska's strategic location and the system currently in place have proven invaluable in defending this great nation. Any cuts to the sole missile defense system for the United States has the potential of sending the wrong message to our adversaries with the unintended consequence of placing our nation at increased risk of offensive missile threats in the future."
On May 7 she released another statement in which she called the Obama administration's plans to cancel a second missile defense field at Alaska's Fort Greely and freeze the number of interceptors being deployed there "outrageous":
"This is an outrageous move at a time when North Korea has shown its willingness to flout international sentiments and conduct missile tests," Governor Palin said. "America needs a strong missile defense, and Alaska’s strategic location is invaluable in protecting the nation."
On May 29 the governor urged President Barack Obama to take a firm stand against North Korea and defend America and its allies on the Korean peninsula:
"The United Nations sanctions have failed to stop North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons, and the Obama Administration cannot afford to be playing catch-up to an irrational dictator like Kim Jong-Il," said Governor Palin. "Missile Defense Agency funding must be fully restored in the federal budget to guarantee our protective measures remain the best in the world. Fort Greely plays a crucial role in the nation’s security."
Alaska's governor took the lead months ago in warning against the potential threat posed by North Korea and arguing for a strong missile defense for the United States. No one has been more outspoken on this issue than she. The Associated Press' clear bias against Sarah Palin is plainly evident by the omission of any mention of her in this or any news article which attempts to deal with the reactions of Alaskans to North Korea's missile and nuclear weapons tests.
