Leigh Scott - Sarah Palin: The Scary Movie

*
Horror movie maker Leigh Scott, who knows how to frighten folks, says in a Big Hollywood op-ed that if he wanted to scare leftists, all he would have to do is hold up a picture of Sarah Palin:
If pressed, the leftists will tell you that they fear her beliefs and what they perceive her policies to be. She will take away women’s right to choose. She will ban books. She will outlaw homosexuality. She will mandate religious beliefs. She will nuke Arab countries.

When making horror films, we always start with a basic concept. In that initial stage, we will decide whether or not the film will be “fantasy horror” or “realistic horror”. A film about vampires is fantasy. A film about a normal looking guy who kills young college girls is more grounded in reality.

The fear of Sarah Palin is like the fear of ghosts, vampires, or werewolves. Pure fantasy (Please note that I didn’t include alien invasion or zombie apocalypse as fantasy because, well, those things could actually happen).

Most of these predictions of doom and gloom under a Palin regime aren’t based on any sort of facts. Palin never banned Harry Potter books. Palin vetoed an Alaskan law that would have barred the state from granting benefits to the partners of gay state employees. Palin is personally pro-life, but as governor actually refused to extend deliberation on two anti-abortion bills presented by the state legislature.

There are a lot of plot holes in the narrative. So what are they really afraid of?

What they fear is that Palin would actually stick to fiscally conservative principles. She would reform the tax laws to make them fair and rational. She would clip the influence of labor unions. She would end the unholy alliance of Big Government and Big Business. She may actually extend women’s rights to choose to include how they spend their money, where they send their kids to school, and what caliber handgun they want to buy.

Scary stuff indeed.
Scott calls leftists "sneaky smart." Since they can’t win against conservatives on ideas (because most people agree with conservative principles), the left creates scary monsters that "play on our fears" -- to paraphrase Al Gore. Like horror flicks, the movie maker says, these scripts follow a frightening narrative, just not a very real one.

Metaphor madness: If Obama is no Spock, then who is he?

*
Leigh Scott has an answer to the "Obama is Spock" nonsense cooked up last May by Jeff Greenwald. Hey, we're Star geeks too, both of the "Trek" and "Wars" variety, so we're not exactly groping in the dark here.

This is metaphor madness. We just went off last night on a Wyle E. Coyote riff to explain the relationship between Sarah Palin and the Alaska hate bloggers in which they are the coyote to her roadrunner. Greenwald whould have us believe that Obama is some creature of logic. That metaphor gets about as far as the mixed heritage comparison (Spock was only half Vulcan, his mother being a scientist from planet Earth) and fails thereafter. Forms of socialism, economic fascism in particular, are not logical. Obama is no Spock.

Scott understands this:
No, let’s focus on the fact that Obama does not follow the Vulcan path. The path of logic. His demeanor may be calm, cool, and unemotional, but his thought process is driven by raw emotion. He represents decades of grievance education, America bashing, and misplaced empathy. There is nothing logical about the man. Exhibit A is the “stimulus plan.”
And he's spot on with Palin as Kirk:
Why? Because she just passed the Kobayashi Maru.
But Commander Scott, you leave the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise virtually marooned in search of a true Star Trek personna for Obama. Ah, but the correct answer to the Obama identity, like the solution to the Kobayashi Maru test scenario, was right in front of you all the time.

Your fellow Breitbart.com contributor Chris Muir had that one figured out back in April, even before Greenwald ventured where no liberal has ever gone before. Obama is CAAAANNNN...

It's quite logical...
