Gov. Palin stands with Miss California

At The Fix, Chris Cillizza notes:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin re-appeared on the national stage tonight, jumping to the defense of a beauty pageant contestant who has been at the center of a media feeding frenzy in recent days.
Interestingly, the governor's statement was released through SarahPAC, not through her office in Alaska. Expect to see more of Gov. Palin's statements on national affairs coming through the political action committee.

The former GOP vice presidential candidate said, in part:
"What I find so remarkable is that these politically-motivated attacks fail to show that what Carrie and I believe is also what President Obama and Secretary Clinton believe --- marriage is between a man and a woman," Palin added. "Our Constitution protects us all -- not just those who agree with the far left."
Again, Gov. Palin's full statement is here.

Is Carrie Prejean the Left’s new Sarah Palin?

Noel Sheppard seems to think so. He makes his case in an op-ed in today's Washington Examiner:
Much like Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Prejean represents a threat to the liberal establishment, for here’s another bright, attractive, outspoken woman whose views just don’t fit into the stereotypical box the Left has created for those who disagree with them.

As a result, she needs to be smeared and smeared good, for much as liberals used Palin as a clarion call to scare folks from voting for Sen. John McCain in last November’s presidential race, Prejean now represents fodder for gay rights activists, and she needs to be pummeled on a regular basis to further their goals.

Irrespective of one’s position on this social issue, of much greater concern should be this strategy by the Left to attack and silence all those who disagree with them.
My only question is if Miss California is indeed the Left's "new" Sarah Palin, why have they not relented in their attacks on the "old" one?

Gov. Palin calls Miss California to offer support

The father of Miss California Carrie Prejean says that Gov. Sarah Palin called his father to offer her support.

Even Allahpundit admits that Palin is the one person in the country who best understands what the young advocate for traditional marriage is going through:
"Is there anyone in American political life better qualified to give tips on coping with a seek-and-destroy campaign by progressive media?"
