Mark America:
“Apparently, the GOP establishment believes we have no memory of them telling us that September 4th would be ‘too late for Palin’ while they now tell us it’s still not too late for others. This is as good as a confession on the part of the establishment: They know Sarah Palin can control the outcome, and all it will take is for her to decide her own timing. Palin has every advantage, and they know it. We’ve discussed at length the reasons she can win, and while it seems silly for the Establishment cronies to pretend otherwise, you must remember that they too are trying to win. She has almost universal name recognition, which none of the other candidates possess, and therefore will hold a huge advantage. It appears that Perry may have peaked, and... just as his entry squashed Michele Bachman, the Roves of the world know whomever enters next will capture the buzz and relegate Perry to second or third place. The window is beginning to close for other candidates, particularly those with the least nationwide name recognition, and all this sudden talk about Christie, Daniels, and even Guliani is all geared toward one or more of them making an entry. Mitch Daniels is out there saying it’s not too late... Sarah Palin has turned out to be a good bit more cagey than the RINO brigade had expected.”Ralph Nader, to Salon.com's Justin Elliott:
“"I think she's a lot smarter than most people credit her. Judging by her comments, she is squarely in the camp of conservative populism, opposed to corporatism and its corporate state... She'll really draw a line between herself and the others, who will never encroach on this.”Ed Morrissey, at Hot air:
“Palin has not just talked about fighting the establishment, she has done it throughout her political career. She fought corruption in the Alaska GOP, and she defeated one of the state’s political dynasties, the Murkowskis, to win her term as governor. Palin did that while talking constantly about breaking the bonds between big business and big government. Bear in mind that Palin drew an avalanche of media attention in the summer and fall of 2008, with dozens of reporters descending on Wasilla looking for background on Palin. Actually, “background” is too nice a word for it; they were looking for dirt. More than three years after getting named to the GOP ticket in 2008, the national media is just now getting around to noticing that Palin isn’t just some rube, but is a grassroots activist with years of both rhetoric and accomplishment in fighting the establishment... If Palin does toss her hat in the ring, don’t expect this late media infatuation with Palin as a smart crusader to last very long.”Mark Whittington,, at Associated Content:
“The problem is, as Nader will no doubt shortly discover, while his approach to anti-corporatism stems from a socialistic perspective, Palin's comes from a libertarian point of view.”Whitney Pitcher, at Little Blog on the Prairie :
“With the declared candidates sparring and the potential for the media to shine a bright spotlight on the scurrilous books by men whom I won't name, perhaps Governor Palin has chosen to wait to announce a presidential bid. After all, in Going Rogue, Governor Palin noted a quote from Napoleon Bonaparte during one of her mayoral races, ‘never get in the way of your enemy when he is making a mistake.’ Also, she is a hunter. Hunters are very patient.... So, Palin supporters, let's keep our powder dry. However, it's more than that. The idea of keeping your powder dry as a mindset or an attitude comes from a quote from Oliver Cromwell where he said, ‘Trust in God, but mind to keep your powder dry.’ The ‘Trust in God’ part is crucial. I'm one of those bitter clingers, so faith in God is of utmost importance. One thing that I've always looked to is a verse in Romans 13 in the Bible: ‘[e]veryone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.’ This gets to the idea of Providence... We don't have to worry about a decision because it's not ours to make. It's only ours to support.”Wyclef Jean, to Women’s Wear Daily:
“I have to tell you this: I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin... Cause she’s rad. She’s shrewd. She’s cool. Because at the end of the day, I’m for the people, because this is the United States of America.”Gary P Jackson, at A Time For Choosing:
“This is a great two hours worth [of] radio with hosts Stephen K Bannon and Amy Siskind. Guests include NY Times columnist Anand Giridharadas, Human Events editor Tony Lee, Real Clear Politics reporter Scott Conroy, Rob Port from Say Anything Blog and Sonnie Johnson of Did She Say That. What’s interesting is Siskind and Giridharadas are Democrats, so we get to hear comments on Governor Palin’s speech in Iowa from that perspective. Hint: they were both blown away. Siskind gets it right on many levels. If Sarah Palin runs, she says, it will be the death knell of the Republican Establishment™. In fact, it will be the death knell of the entire Ruling Class, the Establishment™ in both parties.”David A. Patten, at Newsmax:
“Trump diplomatically told Perry he would not make an endorsement in the GOP primary race until he knows whether former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin plans to run.”Dana Loesch, at Big Journalism:
“I think it’s absolutely newsworthy that a progressive male — a wife-beating convicted rapist — worshiped by Hollywood and prevalent in pop culture, advocated for rape against Sarah Palin on ESPN radio. As I write this, Tyson’s name is trending on Twitter because he is taking part in Charlie Sheen’s roast. He has cameos in big Hollywood films. His remarks were accepted by society. I don’t think this should have been reported as a dry news story, but rather in an editorial with the headline: CONVICTED RAPIST HASN’T CHANGED: TYSON ADVOCATES FOR PALIN RAPE?–a slam dunk editorial excoriating an individual and the society that idolizes women-violators and shuns conservatives who believe women should be treated better. What almost everyone has missed is that Tyson’s remarks weren’t made on some obscure radio show. They were made on ESPN. My teenage male cousin heard this. ESPN’s jocks laughed and encouraged a nine-minute-plus diatribe by Tyson, wherein he made obscene remarks about rape and Sarah Palin. They laughed and supported it... Where are the calls for the heads of those ESPN jocks who made a joke out of rape?”Jim Hoft, at Gateway Pundit:
“More barbaric attacks on Sarah Palin... The left... must be very proud.”Tania Gail, at Midnight Blue Says:
“I read the article written by Jeff [Poor] and posted on Daily Caller. As vile as Mike Tyson’s comments were towards women, I was disappointed the article included no condemnation of the violent sexual imagery directed towards women. Reading the article you won’t find that according to US Dept of Justice special report (Jan 06) almost 18 million women and almost 3 million men in the United States have been raped. One of every six women has been raped at some time... The Daily Caller had the perfect opportunity with this article to take Mike Tyson’s comments out to the woodshed condemning the misogynistic culture that glamorizes rapists. Without a single question or condemnation of Mike Tyson’s comments within the article, the Daily Caller chose to green light a vile assault against women [through] Sarah Palin... Tucker Carlson and the Daily Caller is a symptom of a larger problem within the Right and Left political spheres. Leading female politicians on both sides have not only had to deal with legitimate challenges to their policy stances, but also have to counter salacious attacks against their looks, fend off attacks against their children and refute lies about extramarital affairs (hello, Will Folks). Oh, don’t forget it was a female candidate that was hung in effigy during the 2008 Presidential election.”Stacy McCain, at The Other McCain:
“What Tucker can’t seem to bring himself to admit is that about 10 minutes worth of careful editing would have put Jeff Poor’s article into the safety zone where not even the most zealous Palinista, nor even Sarah Palin herself, would have had any cause to complain...”Mark America:
“Greta puts Carlson on the spot. Carlson attempts several smarmy responses consisting of attacks on Greta’s understanding of quotation marks in a highly patronizing tone. Greta was not amused. He refused to admit wrong-doing. He refused to be held accountable for his on-line rag’s phony “News” story. Greta says at one point: ‘I think you’re lying, Tucker.’ At another point: ‘Tucker, you tried to hide it.’ It sure does seem that way, doesn’t it? ... Unsurprisingly, S.E. Cupp (of GBTV fame) tweets to Carlson’s defense and attacks Greta as ‘confused’ over quotation marks... S.E. Cupp... isn’t understanding, for whatever reason... that this nonsense of attacking people through the use of thugs as surrogates is probably not the most ethical form of journalism. (By way of full disclosure, some of Cupp’s writings have appeared on Carlson’s Daily Caller site.) If it had been a story about issues, nobody would complain. The problem is that these sort of pass-along hits on people, particularly in such vile language, are intended to damage their intended targets in a way that has nothing to do with politics or issues or anything of the sort. It’s simply an attack hidden behind a claim of journalism.”Aaron Worthing, at Patterico's Pontifications:
“I mean, given that her husband is part Inuit, she is arguably in an interracial relationship right now. He is certainly non-white enough to pass the old infamous ‘one drop’ rules that used to apply before Loving v. Virginia.”Phil Arnold, via Iowans 4 Palin:
“The McCain campaign people tried to transform Palin from who she really is into an image of who they wanted her be on the campaign trail. They dressed her up in expensive clothes that she did not want or need. They refused to allow her to do interviews with friendly media while they worked to script her for her first big media interviews. Then they sent her into interviews with not so friendly media where the media outlets were free to edit the video any way they wished. The result was a total disaster. Is it any wonder that many intelligent, well-meaning, and open minded people got a very negative first impression of Sarah Palin? ... Now there is a relatively easy way for anyone to be reintroduced to Sarah Palin if they are open-minded enough to get past their belief that they already know all they need to know about her. The movie ‘The Undefeated,’ which was released in a limited number of theaters in July, reintroduces Sarah Palin in the way the McCain campaign should have introduced her in August of 2008. It is currently available on Pay-Per-View and Video-On-Demand, and will be released on DVD on October 4. The DVD can be pre-ordered through Wal-Mart and Amazon.com... If you are as open-minded as I hope, I would like to challenge you to watch ‘The Undefeated,’ and at least give this documentary about Sarah Palin’s accomplishments in Alaska a chance to reintroduce her to you.”Exit Quote - Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen:
