More Quote of the Day Honorable Mention Part 377

“Jealousy and Fear” Edition
*

Stewart J Lawrence, at left wing The Guardian:
“There's always been a strong undercurrent of jealousy and fear in the venomous attacks on former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, not only from liberals and the left, but increasingly from Republicans. Republicans like Karl Rove, the former top George W Bush adviser, who's tried every which way to force Palin out of contention for the GOP nomination, while promoting his own favoured ‘centre-right’ candidates, most notably Bush's younger brother, Jeb. And yet, in the face of open hostility from the men who largely built the current GOP, there the shameless diva sits jealously guarding third place in the latest Washington Post/ABC and CNN opinion polls. Without even announcing that she will run – and despite many predictions that she has no intention of so doing – Palin's not only within striking distance of Mitt Romney (for months, the GOP's putative ‘front-runner’), Palin is also far ahead of Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann. ”
Tony Lee , via Twitter:
“Anyone find it interesting Perry is called ‘Dubya on steroids’ & Palin's FB note was titled ‘Crony Capitalism On Steroids?’... just sayin”
Mark Judge, at The Daily Caller:
“Erik Wemple, The Washington Post’s new media writer... got the facts wrong. In one paragraph he claims Palin endorses ‘abstinence’ education. In the next he calls it ‘abstinence-only.’ Which is it? It would have taken Wemple 30 seconds of googling to figure out that Palin supports both sex education and the encouragement of abstinence — that is, she thinks kids should be encouraged to be abstinent but, in case they can’t live up to that, also be given the facts about sex — but in a non-graphic, non-dehumanizing way. That position may seem muddled to liberals, but it’s where most Americans are. They want their kids to have the facts, but they also don’t want them to be treated like rutting animals.”
Gene Lalor:
“Levi Johnston is the kind of guy a girl should bring home to meet the family – but only if the family would beat the living daylights out of him.”
Peter Ingemi, at DaTechGuy's Blog:
“I’ve often commented on MSNBC’s niche market and the idea that their programing is designed to keep and appeal to said market. Now that Glenn Beck has struck out on his own he might be well advised to keep that in mind... Or let me put it another way: No Amount of hitting Sarah Palin is going to get liberals to subscribe to your network; liberals can get all they want from the regular media for free. All that does is give conservatives a reason to decide to keep $10 in the bank.”
Nicole Coulter, at Conservatives 4 Palin:
“It’s pretty clear that Governor Palin may have preferred Perry over Kay Bailey Hutchison for Governor of Texas, but there is no indication whatsoever that she is positioning herself to endorse him for president... all the facts would seem to suggest just the opposite.”
Palin's Posse:
“Ace’s raw hatred of Sarah was mentioned last week. It continued unabated [Tuesday], tweet after tweet vomiting his irrational rants against her, focusing on accusing her of the same kind of crony capitalism she had charged Perry with after last night’s debate. Michelle Malkin did a thorough job of debunking his line of ‘reason,’ yet he ranted on. And on, and on and on. Pathetic. Ace isn’t alone, of course. Erick Erickson, puppethead leader of RedState, felt compelled last month when there was confusion over whether Sarah would be speaking at an Iowa tea party gathering to retweet a snarky comment by his fellow Perrywinkle Joshua Trevino, who proceeded to throw a temper tantrum and wrap himself in false piety when called out... over the tweet’s decidedly offensive tone for Catholics.”
Dan Riehl, at Riehl World View:
“RedState's Increasingly Unhinged Palin Dementia... RS has no problem linking up docs from Far Left sources cited in an out of context attack on Sarah Palin on its front page. No honest conservative blog, or blogger would do such a thing and expect to retain any credibility on the Right.”
David, at The Aged P:
“Predictable – UK Telegraph Does Nil Research For Hit Piece On Palin... Lurid allegations by a serious author… please Mr Allen… I think you might have been snorting something white and powdery yourself. The ‘serious author’ has concocted his ‘book’ from a collection of quotes from anonymous sources garnered via conversations with a group of rumour mongers and liars from the fringe left blogosphere in Alaska, most of whom began to spew forth this rubbish after she was nominated for VP in August 2008… coincidence? Ask Pete Rouse at Team Obama.”
Dana Loesch, at Big Journalism:
“That any media outlet would give this failed writer [McGinness] more print than it takes to ridicule his unintentionally comical existence says more about the publication than it does him — which is why there are so few media outlets doing so. They don’t want to look silly for taking falsified bait.”
Don Smith, at Parcbench:
“McGinnis’s book is being received like the 5 year-old who drew his 15th stick figure drawing of the day with the word ‘Me’ written at the top. Now contrast McGinnis’s approach with that of first time author Frank Aquila and his book Sarah Palin Out of Nowhere. Aquila was just a single father who worked as a police officer (who works with troubled kids) from California and he found himself into politics. There is a lesson here. McGinnis was a well-known writer and people expected big things from this, however... he made a fool out of himself. Aquila, on the other hand returns to his life as a hard working father, had a chance to meet Palin... I ask this in the broader sense, which recent book on Palin is the bigger success and which author has distinguished himself in a more mature fashion?”
Molly Ball, at Politico:
“They kicked her around, victimized her, tried to destroy her. But all of a sudden, the lamestream media is coming to Sarah Palin’s defense. Faced with a barrage of negative portrayals — a much-hyped investigative book, a Levi Johnston memoir and a new movie — Palin is finding support in the unlikeliest of places.”
Rob Port, at Say Anything Blog:
“Joe McGinnis, the ‘journalist’ who made headlines when he moved in next door to the Palin family in Wasilla in order to spy on them, has released his book... So a single girl had sex with a single guy more than 20 years ago. I’m, uh, shocked or something. Presuming it even happened, which given McGinnis’ track record it probably didn’t. I have my own history with Mr. McGinnis. I have no idea if this actually made it into the book, but McGinnis contacted me in 2010 while he was trying to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin’s father Chuck Heath... McGinniss told me that if I didn’t share my version of the story, this was the version he’d have to run with. I never responded to the threat, and maybe McGinnis ran with it or maybe he didn’t. I’m not giving him the satisfaction of buying his book to find out. The moral of the story, though, is that McGinnis is a slime ball.”
John Nolte , via Ttwitter:
“Remember all the talk about crony capitalism b4 ‘irrelevant’ Sarah Palin brought it up in that ‘standard’ stump speech? Yeah, me neither.”
Mark America:
“The Tea Party was born as a reply to Obama’s over-reaching, and Palin’s relation to it merely accentuates the point: She’s exactly the right candidate for America, but to win, she’ll need to consider timing like a NASCAR veteran. It looks as though she has. Have you ever watched a NASCAR race at a super-speedway like the tracks at Daytona or Talledega? These races really come down to a good deal of tactical thinking in the last few laps... You may ask how this could apply to Sarah Palin. Simply put, despite not being officially in the race, only Palin is in double digits other than the two alleged front-runners. That’s right. She’s sitting in third, and the front-runners have begun to battle side-by-side. In two consecutive debates, Perry and Romney have been hammering one another, and it’s beginning to take its toll. The two are beginning to induce a great deal of drag for their efforts, and the rest of the field will begin to catch up. All that is now required is the momentum of a sling-shot maneuver, and only one person is really positioned to carry it out, but timing will be critical. What does a NASCAR fan in Texas know about the competition that would apply to politics? I can tell you without flinching that just as the race of 500 miles frequently comes down to the maneuvers executed within sight of the finish, so it is also true that a presidential primary can come down to those last weeks before state ballots begin to close to new entries.”
Exit Quote - George Washington:
“It will be found an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it.”
