Sarah Palin endorses Nikki Haley in South Carolina

*

Sarah Palin spoke to an enthusiastic crowd on the steps of the State House in Columbia Friday afternoon, talking down Washington politics and talking up candidate Nikki Haley for governor of South Carolina:
"Our country is at a crossroads," she said. "We have an out of touch government in Washington. And the government wants to tax and spend and borrow our way out of problems."

She called programs such as the new health care law and the federal stimulus "job killers."

As part of her point about who could provide a conservative alternative, Palin endorsed Nikki Haley's bid to be South Carolina's next governor.

Palin said Haley, a state representative from Lexington County, was a reformer who she says resembles herself when she won the Alaska governorship.

"I've been there, I know your story, I know what you're going through and I feel as though I'm a kindred spirit," Palin said.

Palin called Haley "a principled leader who knows how to create jobs."

There were some protestors there to greet Palin, whom she addressed early in her remarks.

"Bless your hearts protestors," she said, pointing to the group. "Keep doing what you're doing. People like Mike and my son in uniform are protecting your right to protest. Stick around maybe you'll learn something."
It has been a busy day for Gov. Palin. She addressed a pro-life breakfast in the nation's capitol and then sat for an interview with Fox News' Greta Van Susteren this morning. She spoke to the NRA convention this afternoon in Charlotte before heading south to Columbia.
