Bedard beats the drive-by drum

In his latest post to his Washington Whispers blog on the U.S. News website, Paul Bedard picks up the familiar media drumbeat conducted by the DNC with low notes from the nutroots:

Worse than Dan Quayle before her, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's bright star has fast faded in the eyes of Washington Republican officials and analysts, calling into question her efforts to become a national party figure ready to run for the White House.

His evidence? Bedard quotes only one of those officials, a strategist who worked for former President Bush, but as is usually in these sort of attacks, the persons identity remains safely tucked away:

"I mean, she's starting to look like she's having trouble being governor of Alaska."

News Flash: It has never been an easy job for the governor who took on the corrupt elements of her own party as well as the Democrats. Yet somehow she has manged to keep her approval numbers over the 60% mark, despite a gruelling national campaign and a well-coordinated nonstop effort to smear her since the day John McCain named her to be his running mate. One anonymous "source" does not a consensus make. Far from it.

Bedard cites a weak debut, mishandling of her by Team McCain and family issues as the reasons that Gov. Palin's stock has allegedly lost value with Washington Republicans.

Weak debut? I don't think so:



What's really sinkng, Mr. Bedard is not Gov. Palin's star. It's your drive-by media.
